At Desert Doorstep Recycling, we believe it’s our responsibility to leave the world a better place than we found it.
We help keep our communities clean and beautiful by making recycling easy, right at your doorstep. When you recycle with us, you’re part of the team — doing your part to make this place better, for your neighborhood and the environment.
It starts with something small: a bag at your door, once a week. Done together, week after week, those small choices add up to cleaner streets, a healthier desert, and a neighborhood that looks — and feels — cared for. You already want to recycle. This is your chance to be part of it, and to feel good knowing you are.
Weekly doorstep pickup. Set your bags out the night before, and we collect them on your pickup day — no hauling, no bins, no remembering which week it is.

How it works
Three steps, once a week. That’s the whole routine.

Fill your bags
Use your own standard 13-gallon bags. Empty and rinse recyclables, keep them clean and dry, and break down cardboard so it fits.

Set them out the night before
Place your bags at your door the night before your pickup day, so the route never misses you.

We pick up, 8am–5pm
Pickups run between 8am and 5pm on your assigned day. The route sets the exact time — we work through each complex in order.
You don’t pick a pickup time. Your pickup day is assigned when you reserve your spot. Regular routes run up to three days a week, starting one complex at a time, so pickup days stay reliable as we grow.
Pricing
Simple monthly plans. The card price is the public price; paying by cash costs less.
Founding First 10 only
Same as Core. Locked rate for the first 10 customers.
Core
Weekly pickup. Two standard 13-gallon bags.
Heavy
Four standard 13-gallon bags a week — all at once, or 2 bags twice a week.
Extra bags beyond your plan: $3 per bag, per week. Heavy costs less than Core plus two extra bags every week — $65 vs. $68 by card, $58 vs. $63 by cash. No bins to buy or store; you provide the bags.

What we take — and how to prep it
We follow the City of Scottsdale’s recycling guidelines. When in doubt, keep it out.
Yes, please
- Paper & cardboard: office paper, junk mail, newspapers, magazines, shipping and cereal boxes, brown bags. Break down cardboard; remove liners.
- Plastic (#1–7): bottles, jugs, tubs, cups, yogurt containers and clamshells.
- Metal: clean food and beverage cans, clean aluminum foil.
- Glass: food and beverage containers — clear, green, or amber.
- Cartons: milk, juice, and soup cartons.
Prep it right: empty, rinse, clean, and dry. No food or liquid left inside.
Please keep these out
- Plastic bags, liners, and wraps
- Styrofoam and packing foam
- Food or liquid waste; greasy pizza boxes and soiled paper
- Electronics and batteries
- Hazardous containers — motor oil, pool chemicals, paint cans
- Clothing and textiles, yard waste, and construction debris
- Shredded paper, napkins, tissues, and paper plates

The pickup agreement

If bags aren’t out
Bags need to be at your door the night before pickup day. If they aren’t out when the route arrives, that week’s pickup is forfeited, and that week is still paid for.
That’s why the night-before rule matters: it’s what keeps the route on time for everyone.
If we miss a pickup
Life happens — illness, truck trouble, weather. If we miss your scheduled pickup, we’ll contact you and schedule a makeup pickup, generally Tuesday through Friday depending on the route. Makeup days can fall outside the regular route days.
If the December 1 start slips, you’ll be offered a refund or your first month free.
Questions, answered plainly
No. There are no bins. You use your own standard 13-gallon bags — the same kitchen-size bags as the plan counts. That keeps the service simple and keeps bags from taking up space at your door.
No — and that’s on purpose. Pickups run between 8am and 5pm, and the route sets the order, working through each complex in turn. Set your bags out the night before and they’ll be collected on your pickup day.
Automatic monthly card billing is the default — sign up once and it bills each month, so you don’t have to remember. Manual monthly payment by Zelle or Cash App is also available if you prefer to pay each bill yourself. Payment details are confirmed when you reserve your spot. No PayPal.
Yes. Cancelling is easy, with no runaround — no maze, no retention script. If you need a refund, contact us and we’ll sort it out directly. Easy cancel and easy refunds are part of how we do business, not a footnote.
We’re starting in McCormick Ranch and nearby Scottsdale neighborhoods — about 5 miles around Scottsdale — one complex at a time. If you’re nearby and unsure, call or text and ask; we’ll tell you straight away whether your complex is on the first routes.
You’ll get your assigned pickup day and payment details confirmed, plus a confirmation email with the setup instructions. Check your spam or junk folder if you don’t see it — signup emails sometimes land there. Then bags out the night before, starting December 1.

- We confirm your pickup day and payment details, and send a confirmation email with the setup instructions.
- Check spam if the confirmation doesn’t arrive, then set your bags out the night before your first pickup.
